My grandmother Dora Dembling lived here, came to America c. 1908 and married her cousin Chaim Dembling, who emigrated from Hubyn, a few miles away. Dora referred to the landlord here as “the Czar” because to her and her father and mother they ruled their little world. Now I know what where the “Czar” lived and what she left behind.
