Do you know the address? I’m trying to find this location on Google Maps. My grandpa is from Khotyn. He was around 10 when the Jews were rounded up and sent to the camps. He returned very briefly after the war, but then moved to the U.S.
I showed him Khotyn on Google Maps and he enjoyed looking around. He couldn’t find the location around where he lived. I suspect knowing the location of this synagogue would help him get his bearings. This synagogue played a central part in his family’s life back then. He vividly remembers Rabbi Twersky.
I just saw your reply. Thank you so much! Sadly, my grandpa died 19 days after your response. I never got to show him. But I enjoy looking myself.
I found his birth record from Romania. It listed his address and the addresses of the witnesses. I can’t find those streets. They’ve either been renamed or no longer exist. Do you know where the Jewish section of town was in the 1930s?
