On the way to Lviv

The morning is gray and chilly when we leave Chernivtsi (Czernowitz). Light rain falls. Our train swings slowly towards Galicia. We are on the way to Lviv (Lwow, Lemberg), the first stop on our way home.

We spend most of the time on the train window. It does not take long until we leave Bukovina. Now we go through Galicia. The landscape has a peculiar beauty of green hills, villages, church domes. We see geese, cows, goats, horses and of course all the huge stork nests.

The further north we get, the better the weather is. The landscape is green and yellow under a high blue sky. Five hours are too fast for this route. I could have gone longer.
